Oi, I've not been around to post any and only lurk a bit the past couple months. Can't believe the Games are less than a month away now... can't wait!

Michele and I are staying at Linville River Log Cabins. Since there is a 4 hour gap between the end of the day activities on Friday at 3:00 p.m., and the Celtic Jam Concert at 7, we are going to have a cookout at our cabin for Xmarkers for Friday dinner. Basically hamburgers, hotdogs, veggieburgers and associated fixins. Plus maybe some beer, a drop or two of the pure, and fellowship. PM me if you want to attend, and I will get you directions. Mael, I already have your response.

Geoff, I don't know if you've been before, but if you haven't then it might be good to know that the while the Celtic Jam technically begins at 7, there is typically stuff going on prior to the start, like sheep herding, or bluegrass music. Also, many people stake out seating at 3 pm, by spreading their stuff out. I personally think that's kind of rude, but whatever, it's what happens. So by 6 PM all the good seating is long gone.
Some people picnic at the concert -- so they go over at 3 or 4 and get a good spot and stay there, eating and drinking. We did that a few years ago and it was a good time. I never go to the concert anymore because the sound production is so horrible. Way too loud, and no appreciation for the mix (i.e., two fiddles on stage playing, and not being able to hear either one, while the bass and drums are too loud). Take earplugs and low expectations :-(
And when I say it's too loud, bear in mind that I play in a pipe band ;-) By the end of the show you can hear the bass all the way out at the highway.

Only speaking for myself; yes, I'll have a dandelion in my bonnet, cap, or brimmed hat. I always carry a stash of them for anyone of the Rabble who may be without one. Just ask.

Real dandelions? I can do that if I can find one, but only after the piping competition is over ;-)

Does anyone know if we can get to the swinging bridge and zoo on Grandfather Mt. ?
By walking or driving without haveing to get on shuttle van ?
And does anyone know of good resterants around that area ?
I am staying at the Pinnacle Inn on Beach Mt. , any ideas of things to do after the games in that area ?
Thank you so much - I am trying to plan this thing out .
