MacGillivray Motto: Touch Not this Cat
MacGillivray War Cry: Dunmaghlas
We have been doing some family history, and have found my wife has a Budge line that looks to be tied to the Sinclair Clan. I like their motto: Commit thy works to God.

Heh, yeah... "Stand Fast" or "Standing Fast" sounds much better than the commonly used "Remaining", plus makes more sense. One of those difficult bits associated when you are trying to define a word that is made up of a couple others!

What? No Kennedys?
Our Motto: Avise La Fin
Translation: Consider The End
Interesting. Having read much about my fore-bears, this motto has a pretty fitting part in our history. Some of the way our Clan functioned were a touch harsh. For example, one of the nicer pieces of land held by our Clan was acquired from a Priest. The Priest didn't want to part with it at first but signed it right over when he was roasted on a spit....
Still, what can you expect from a family whose name translates to Ugly Headed (or fierce)...

Clan Boyd: En Confido. "I trust", said to Robert Boyd in Goldberry at the Battle of Largs by Alexander III, King of the Scots when asked to hold the hill. This battle established Scottish control of the western isles from Norway forever.

Not really all that inspiring.
Yes it definitely is! You probably don't know the history behind it. If you did, you would know Clan Boyd is why everyone in Ayrshire is not speaking Danish!

Macdonald has a few.
Macdonald of the isles is 'Per mare, per terras' - By sea, by land.
The war cry is 'Fraoch Eilean!' The heathery isle!

LK-13,
I take it you do know that this is not a clan's coat of arms, or that of a family name. It is meant to be used exclusively by it's owner. The coat of arms may contain the clan motto, but it isn't the clan's coat of arms.
There are a couple of posters that use what appears to be coats of arms for their avatars. I assume they either are the arm's owners or have the owner's permission to display them.
