MacLachlan by surname.
I like MacLachlan Chief's Blue, Which is Yellow & Carolina Blue, also under consideration, just 'cause I lik'em: Fraser, weathered Maclaren, Ulster, almost anything weathered. I'm not considering Black Watch because everyone else seems to have it, (but I wouldn't pass on a great buy at at garage or flea sale)

Hi to all the kiltmen here!
I'm new here and I write form Italy (excuse my bad english).
I wear kilt form 2006 here in Italy. I think to be almost the only one here! LOL
I have two Black Watch one from Stillwater and one from Sportkilt
a Campell 42nd sold as "Black Watch" form Stillwater..... (I was new in the tartan world and I did not realize it immediately!)
A Nightstalker from Stillwater
One Black and One Tan Amerikilts.
Next one (and first real 8yds 16oz kilt) will be the Mac Kay modern if I will succeed in contacting the Caln Mac Kay Society in scotland.... no one i answering to my mail. Anyone knows the reason here?
Ciao!

Why do you need to contact them? You don't need permission to wear anyone's tartan if that's what you were contacting them for.

Okay, last night I heard from a cousin I didn't know I had, who has spent 40 yrs researching our McReynolds/Keppoch line. Because of information he's provided regarding our line out of Keppoch & its connection to the Dolnald clan of that area I'm revamping my list and adding the tartan of that name to it.
Only I'm undecided as to which one I'll choose yet. I'm leaning towards one of the "special weave" tartans (see new thread I'll post on the subject).

On order:
MODERN MACKAY - Matt Newsome made 4 yd box pleat.
I'm a member of Clan Mackay Society, plus I like the history of this tartan. It was first one registered by Chief of Mackay in 1819. Also the colors match descriptions of tartan worn by the Mackay Regt in the 30 Years War.
Wish List:
MACDONELL OF KEPPOCH - undecided to which tartan just yet.
WEATHERED MACKAY - two reasons: 1) a rarely worn by members of Clan Mackay Society, & 2) it would make a great "hill climber" color.
PERTHSHIRE DISTRICT (MUTED) - the "homeland" of my Scobee's.
GREEN IRISH (SOLID) - for my Irish ancestors, & is the tartan chosen last year by the Clan O'Mórda society on St. Patrick's Day.
RED ULSTER - for my Ulster Scot kin.
MODERN MACKAY - Yes, a second one! One for dress & one for knocking about
Considering:
ANCIENT MACKAY - just because I like the colors!
MACKAY OF STRATHNAVER - an interesting looking tartan that is fast becoming a favorite of Clan Mackay members.
There are others I'm considering, but will end my list here (for now)....

Just saw this. PM me and I'll see what I can do to help.
From time to time I have contact with the officers of the Scottish society, including Lady Elizabeth (the Chief's sister).

Hi Sharpdressedscot!
Thank you for your words.
I want to contact them for a a lot of reason about the feelings I have in Mac Kay country and Mac Kay clan.
I know that there is no "tartan police" and my request it is no necessary, but for my own way of thinking I prefer not to wear the tartan of a family or a Clan without asking permission.
Thank you!

And you should be commended for such a gesture. It shows respect. Good on ya, as the Aussies say.
Do you know about the Italian and Rome tartans?
Regards,
Todd
