I want you guys to keep an eye on Sierra Trading Post since they often have Orvis close-outs...maybe if the price gets real tempting, some lunatic....er...some fashionable forum member will take the plunge.
...a plunge into what, I have no idea...
Best

Well just great......It's on sale now and I just bought a jacket. Bad timing on my part.

Needs an equally bizarre set of trews to go with the jacket. And to add the final touch, a multitartan belt.

I was all set on buying one to wear with my satin David Bowie balloon pants, but you all shamed me out of it. Anyway, it only has 3 (or 4?) pockets, so not very practical. :-(

I remembered this thread when I saw an Ethan Allen ad on TV. The same image is on their website in the video "5 signature lifestyles," where I grabbed this screen capture.

Not the Orvis jacket that Barb found, more like the waistcoat that Mael Coluim sports in this old thread.

And yes, that is an actual picture from an actual website for a store here in Dallas. They call it their "Scottish Highlander" costume.
"My beloved America, thank you for your children. If your children want to become soldiers I will train them. When they are hungry I will feed them. When they are thirsty I will give them water. When they fight for freedom I will lead them. When they are unsteady on the battlefield I will motivate them. If they die on the battlefield I will bury them. So help me God."
