This Kilted Friday I reached back in the armoire for my khaki Buzz Kidder kilt to display my UVA colors with a retro look rather than the current V-Sabres logo as the Caveliers men's basketball team play tonight in the ACC Tournament Semifinals.

Wearing the Holyrood Casual Kilt today. Spent most of the day at the hospital (wife needed a minor operation, which went well). The security guard at the visitor check in appreciated it, and informed me he's a Robertson, and goes kilted himself sometimes. In post-op, my wife informed me that the surgical staff had a lot of questions for her, while prepping her in the OR... most of which were about my attire. Though the best part of the day was going kilted to USA Kilts. My loveliest wife granted me permission to get another Casual Kilt using a bit of our tax refund this year! All in all, a very good kilted Friday.

Been a few days of kilt wearing, but not Fridays, over the past three weeks. Managed to get back into the Friday routine today with wingtip boots, collared shirt and pullover. I think its pretty casual; someone noted that I was in all my finery today.
The wee dram at the end of the day will taste that much better I'm sure.

I don't know about elsewhere, but here in the states, what passes as "casual" in the world of more traditional highland dress, is quite dressy compared to the norm.

Have a kilt run this afternoon, thought I would just go kilted all day. The run is for the American Cancer Society. They want to beat the world record of kilted runners. First time kilted all day at work. The ladies in the offices loved it. That surprised me.

First kilt worn to new job!
Back in December I started working at the local university as a mail carrier/parcel delivery. As I don't usually wear my kilts too much during the winter here, they had not seen me in one as yet. So after inquiring as to whether I could indeed wear it on campus, I was give n full approval. It has to be casual as there is a lot of heavy lifting, moving around and activity. So the sportkilt works very well for this and I decided that and a typical T shirt with boots would suffice for the first day. While around campus it was really quiet due to finals next week and so there were not too many seeing me in the kilt. But it was a first step and I hope to wear it again next week when all the classes are deep in Finals Week!

Today's Kilted Friday conundrum was how to wear my school colors in support of Virginia's NCAA Tournament game this evening and recognize the upcoming Saint Patrick's Day. ![Shocked](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif)

I work at a University too. Very laid back compared to other places I work. I didn't even ask permission. Some of my co-workers wear shorts, tee shirts and sneakers. This is a couple steps up, IMO. I might go with kilt on Tartan Day, but more formal, with shirt and tie, gillie brogues, etc.

My wife and I had a rare "date night" with only a single chaperone (our 1yo), big sister was dropped off with grandparents. I went Kilted in the Holyrood Casual Kilt from USA Kilts, a white button up, blue vest and bow-tie and a pair of brown hose. We were over in Allentown, at the Lehigh Valley Mall for dinner and a leasurely stroll. Don't think I've ever really been kilted there before. Got a few compliments, a few looks, and one gawking child. All in all a lovely night.
On the "learning to be kilted" end of things, I pressed my kilt this morning, in preparation for the big day. Normally my pleats make it through a good weak of daily wear before they start to get out of sorts. Well, after several longish (40+ minutes) drives, my pleats are all out of sorts. Looks like it's been abused for two weeks. I'll have another go with the iron tomorrow morning.
