The woman is not a model, has really good, but "normal" taste, and had a budget in mind. She buys a lot of stuff at thrift shops or on sale.
And she's from Cincinnati. How cool!

Alan H. asked that I take a picture of this Lady at the Woodland Games. She is wearing a long skirt with the tartan on the bias.

    Cheers

Maybe it's just her stance but that one looks to be skewed a bit off of the bias making for a different look.

Do you HATE PLAID, just bluidy hate it, but you have to wear some of the stinkin' stuff because your man wears his kilt to the Games? Its' hot, you are NOT going to wear wool (he's out of his mind) but because you love the dork you will consent to put SOMETHING tartan on your body, if it shuts him up.

since you hate it, you might as well put it somewhere where you don't have to look at it..., and I don't mean tartan underwear..

You can't wear tartan, and have it more invisible to yourself than to get a tartan hair scrunchie.

Can't find one in the clan tartan? Buy a swatch of tartan poly-viscose from Rocky at USA kilts, get a few inches of elastic from JoAnne's fabric and MAKE one. It's worth it just to shut the man up.

Scrunchie doesn't do it for you? How about a hair band or a hair bow?

Look at it this way. At least they're not HOT on a summers day at the Games.

baseball caps with ponytails out the back are sexy. You heard it here, first!

How about a wide-brim floppy hat in cotton or straw to keep the sun off...

.....but dress it up with a tartan ribbon hatband? Scotweb sells tartan ribbon.

I found these ultra-chic items 'specially for String, who will likely wear them to church if her dad looks the other way for too long..

I think I will get her a pair for her 18th birthday.

I also want to draw your attention to this picture, in which the gentleman are two dashing fellows in kilts from the Nor Cal Rabble, but they fade out in comparison to the women who tolerate them.

Note that the F-H.C.A.G. is wearing a little bit of X-marks tartan on her jacket, with a small badge. You could easily do such a thing, take a bit of Clan tartan, perhaps cross it over in a single-loop bow, and pin it to your blouse or jacket with a clan badge.

It's inexpensive. It's tartan. It shuts up the dork. It doesn't cost much, and it doesn't pollute your closet with PLAID *shudder* all the rest of the year when you don't have to wear the bloody stuff.

And it looks good. Well, to US it looks good, even though you might think it's an abomination. Then again, maybe you LIKE plaid and just don't want to spend a lot of money or wear something hot to the Games. There ya go.

Hey Alan! Where'd you find this last skirt? I am of an age where a mini skirt doesn't look quite right but this one is one I could wear! I'm going to the big Clan MacIntyre gathering in Scotland in July and don't want to put us MacIntyres to shame with a plain sash or rosette if I can find somehing like this!!! I LIKE IT!
