This thread falls entirely into the TL;DR category, but I suppose that this "author" just goes to prove that religious nutjobs aren't exclusive to the Middle East. There are crazy wackos who read what they want to in bible verses, koran verses - whatever religious text they can get their hands on - everywhere in the world.
For those who understand, no explanation is necessary; for those who don't, none is possible.

Nobody in the Bible wore trousers.
I suppose that depends on how you define in the Bible:
Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

Whenever I did a reading in a church on the South coast they had to give me a modern bible, as whenever I read aloud from the King James version I drop straight back into a broad Northern English accent which they found almost incomprehensible.
In my native Yorkshire thee and thah (thou) were commonly used 50 years ago and are still heard - particularly when people get angry.
My grandmother, father's mother, was brought up out in the wilds of Derbyshire and had no education, but she knew the bible and quoted it to me all the time.
She was coached in writing her name by her brothers so she could sign the register when she married, rather than making her mark, but did not learn to read and write until my father went to school and she had him go through his lessons with her after school each day.
I am not at all surprised by the tone of this thread, as X markers know or learn that any person denegrating the wearing of the kilt is to be pitied rather than reviled.

IMHO, this isn't about whether the Bible is right or wrong. This isn't about any particular belief system being right or wrong.
This is entirely about one persons personal opinion and that he is using religion to justify his bias.
That is what is wrong in this situation.
Besides, his argument is flawed. The original great kilts were very much like the wrapped robes of days gone by.

OC Richard is correct in saying that the King James sounds better because the most poetic versions were picked.
And not wrong either in saying that Coverdale and Tyndale are not remembered. But the AV does include passages from both those early translators. In fact one of the objects in creating that translation was to be as conservative as possible.
In London, at any rate, most people were using “you” instead of “thee/thou”, but in the AV the use of “you” is limited to the plural and honorific usages, and is also not applied to God.
Morris at Heathfield has a point regarding Barbarians and Scythians, but there are no specific Barbarians of Scythians named anywhere in the New Testament (much less the OT).
Anne, I would love to hear you reading from the King James Bible. Your broad pronunciation would resonate well with it.
Regards,
Mike

Me, too. I enjoy hearing different accents and comparing them to each other.

LOL! our friend here also rants about Rock'n'Roll. Obviously he's pitiably self-oppressed. Life must be very difficult for him and any woman he manages to convince to accept his worldview in a long term relationship.
Someone should spike his punchbowl and then have a chat with him about the joys of life. Poor fella.

You know, I made friends with a whole bunch of Crow braves for exactly that reason. I was in Billings, Mt for the Yellowstone Highland Games, and went to my motel bar and grill for dinner on the Friday night of the festival. There were 2 table of young Crow men there. I walked in wearing my kilt and it was like I was a long lost member of the tribe. They didn't talk to any other white person in the bar. They told me it was because they regard the kilt as the garment of a warrior, and they only associate themselves with other warriors.

I vote not psychotic, just 100% sexually insecure ignorant loon.
I believe you have hit the nail squarely on the head. Sounds to me like a feller who doesn't know how to cope with is sexuality. All this theory does is reinforce the notion that the kilt is a masculine garment indeed.
