Re: Welsh Rugby Scarf Travel Log in Pictures

At 10:16 this morning, I handed the scarf into the tender mercies of the British Postal system.

I gave instructions that the postman was to run all the way to Hawick. They gave me a funny look, but they didn't say no.

So, it is winging its way to Scotland as we speak.

    Safe Journey and Happy Landings!

    Regards

    Chas

The far north of Scotland is ready for a quick turnaround to Hamish. I hope the sun is out as we only get 7 hours of daylight this time of year. It was cloudy today so was almost dark by 15:30.

Re: Welsh Rugby Scarf Travel Log in Pictures

The wee Welsh Rugby Scarf arrived in Hawick this morning.

The scarf wanted to be driven to the rugby ground.

Mansfield Park, the home of Hawick Rugby Football Club, one of Scotland's top teams.
This rugby ground has also hosted the Hawick Highland Games.
Hawick was the home town of the late Bill McLaren, radio and television rugby commentator.

Next was a visit to Hawick's oldest building, the sixteenth century Drumlanrig's Tower.

Followed by a visit to the Beanscene cafe in the old Tower Mill

for coffee on the glass floor above the water wheel.

The scarf visited the sculpture of William of Rule.
William of Rule saved the life of King Robert the Bruce when he turned the head of a bull which was charging on the king. His reward was to be granted the name Turnbull.

A visit to the Hawick Horse which commemorates a victory over the English at the Battle of Hornshole in 1514.

The scarf met a bus which had previously operated for a Welsh bus company

Finally a visit to House of Cheviot, Hawick Sock Company, where the scarf met a display of kilt hose.
Time is tight for the scarf to complete the itinerary so no time was wasted and the scarf is already on its way to Chrisupyonder.
Regional Director for Scotland for Clan Cunningham International, and a Scottish Armiger.

Good going Alex, I am sure the scarf is pleased to be so near home soil now.

Gosh, Alex. That was so quick! Those little postmen MUST have run all the way, just like I asked them to.

Ah, the Beanscene cafe with the famous glass floor - just the place for a kiltie to eat - they do some wonderful food there.

    Great pictures as usual Alex.

    Regards

    Chas

    Thanks Alex. Nice pics.

Nearing the end of its journey. I should be able to get it to Hamish before the end of the week.
