Thank you Jane for the update.
Get well soon Jock. Can't say it enough...it ain't the same without ya.
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

Dearie Me - I leave this place for couple of weeks and all H E double hockey sticks breaks out! I am deeply sorry to hear of Jock's accident but heartened to know he is slowly on the mend. He will, of course, be in my families hearts as he trudges his road of recovery.
I have been the direct recipient of his generosity and kindness and also have reveled in his irascible curmudgeonly advice to those of us on this side of the pond. One thing is certain, Jock's kilted compass unerringly points to true north and there is great comfort in that knowledge.
If I may be so bold, a word to those on team Jock. My heart aches for all of you. It is never easy to be there supporting those who need us. The endless hours of worry, the difficult decisions that must be made, the roller coaster of emotions, and the sheer exhaustion of the experience make your labors of love difficult to bear. Please know you are not alone - there are countless men and women here that hold you in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers. I hope you can feel our love, our care, our compassion, and our support surrounding you during this difficult time. You are not alone and neither is Jock.
May you all find peace.

Hello everyone.
Jane here. I have been asked by "Jock's" family to explain, best I can, what happened to Himself.
"Jock" was watching a tree being felled in the park, from a safe(!) distance of about 80 yards. The tree was a very large Horse Chestnut weighing about 25/30 tons that had seen better days and was being cut down by the estate foresters.
The tree hitting the ground with considerable force,as they do, somehow caused a stone, about twice the size of a golf ball, to "squirt" out of the ground at great velocity and hit "Jock" on the head. A freak accident and absolutely no one's fault. Fortunately, the foresters were quick witted and being ex military, had a good knowledge of what to do in the circumstances and there is no doubt whatsoever that they saved "Jock's" life.
Having been airlifted to hospital "Jock" had an emergency operation to remove a blood clot on the brain and the rest you know.
"Jock" is having a real battle at the moment and "Team Jock UK", of which you are ALL members of "Team Jock International" by the way, are keeping his flag flying. Thank you so much for the messages and pictures, they really do help.
J.
