Winter has arrived, the wind is blowing 60MPH down the North Sea and hammering my house with rain /snow/hail/sleet

Well we survived the night but with a certain lack of sleep due to the noise. coming into work this morning it's still windy though down to 40 on the weather station. We obviously had a large amount of precipitation last night as the puddles were deeper than normal, but of more concern were the branches lying on the roads. This being the first storm of the winter from the north a new batch of branches were all over the road, and one tree was down but had been pushed to the side of the road with warning signs around it. According to the radio as I drove in, there are trees down all over north norfolk, flooding in a couple of places and they've closed all the flood gates right round the coast of Norfolk from Kings Lynn to Great Yarmouth. As I approched Norwich there was snow lying on th ground, not a lot but enough to drift in to a couple of inches round the place. Also because of the high winds it was plastered up the windward sides of cars and houses.

We have the sun - clear skies, and the heating on.
I need to go out and restore order - there are trees down in my garden - fortunately it is simply a matter of turning the pot the right way up again.

A day of sunshine and clear skies at last, but colder, temperature around freezing point by day and a few degrees of frost by night. Wednesday night's snow is still lying and makes everything look so much brighter now that the sun is shining.

Finally I can post something enviable. After weeks of "normal" weather eluding us, it is beautiful. 68 degrees F, not a cloud in the sky, minimal breeze. I think it is supposed to be this way.

GrainReaper, now, now, Grandma used to say about Chicago, "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute, it will change."
'NOT AT ALL looking "happily" forward to the return of -25 F (-32C) or lower wind chills by Sunday night, for much of the week.

The thermometer showed 3 degrees when I went out this afternoon - all the trouser wearers were muffled up.
Kilts seem to be a warmer option for Winter yet are more comfortable in Summer heat. Even in pouring rain they will divert the water away so as to reduce chilling, should one be caught out without a waterproof.
If it does get much colder I might have to wear another layer over my tee shirt.

A nice sunny Zero degrees F. here in west-central Illinois this fine Sunday morning. With a brisk 12mph wind and a fresh dusting of snow overnight it's a wee nippy at a windchill of -17F. Might be a fine day for p*nts.
