Two months if we could get it "RIGHT" is completely acceptable, that long and still not perfect, then I would say close now is okay.

Amy and I are going to with wait for the custom since we have no specific date we need it done by. As long as we have it for in time ro have the kilts made for Ren Fair next year (this years hasn't ended yet to give you an idea) we're good.

The colors look alright to me. Are they not dark enough? Is that the issue?

I'd love 5 yards at least. And, as I am new to the making of kilts, what would I need for a knife pleat... single or double width?

But, yes, at least 5 yards... maybe more.

For a regular 8 yard knife pleated kilt you would require 4 yards (this order is double width).

The issue with the original samples sent is that the tones are WAY off and none of the greens was dark enough to serve as the background colour as the original tartan was designed.

What weight of wool will this be? 13, 16?

And thanks for the info. Even though I only need 4 yards, put me down for 5. I'd like to have the left overs.

I'm going to bite the bullet and up my order to 2 yards please, that way I definately have enough to make 'something', and I vote for the custom dyejob as that gives me time to save up the money for this.

The order would have to be paid for WHEN we order, so do you still want to increase your order and vote for the custom dyeing?

I agree with the wait if it's perfect , if its not going to make that much difference them I'm all for biting the bullet now.

The choice should be Artificers, it's his design and he should be happy with it.

Scott, you can up my yardage to a full three, if that is ok.

Also, I vote for patience and perfect colors, all else being equal.
