I don't think there's much hope of anything like that getting started back here in 'Blighty'. The few Caledonian Societies that exist hereabouts seem to be peopled by dour, straightfaced, humourless souls who think they are the catswhiskers when the 'Gay Gordons' or an 'Eightsome Reel' is announced at a dance. Unfortunately, about 9 out of 10 of them have not the faintest idea when it comes to it!!
Anyway, Good Luck with your endeavours out there in the Colonies!
Thanks Hamish, I rather imagine I'll have the same problems here, but there's no harm in trying, I'm an incurable optimist!

You raise some valid points and I would agree with your objections.
the difference is that out here we can mould our group the way we want to, while remaining within the stated objectives of NWC.
for example, our current group "Bravehearts Tasmania" consists of all Christians (while we are not a "christian" group as such and are open to all), that's just the way it worked out. So this tends to 'colour' what we do, going out and getting drunk is not on the agenda
Anyway, I'll see if the idea "flys".

Good to hear Hank, I've only spoken to Mike on the phone and I like him.
Thanks Glen, Kiltedmusiclover and Rob.
Rob, the attendance was good at Georgetown. Brian has already answered your question with the web link.

Good on ya Graham. That Mike Dunlap is one
nice guy. I emailed back and forth a bit with
him a while back about maybe starting a chapter
here in Oregon but I didn't end up doing it yet.
I don't really know enough like-minded guys here
yet to do it. Also at that time I was trying to figure out a way to move to Florida where he is and
that is how I found out about him while searching the
net about all things Floridian. I'm so far still stuck in Oregon. LOL. I wish you success with your chapter. I think you'll have a lot of fun. I hope so.
Cheers,
Muddy

Thanks Muddy, if I can find enough like-minded lads and lassies we might get something happening.
Australians tend to be an independent bunch, and often dislike any notion of being "ruled by America" (or any other country) - not that this is the case, not even close!, but that can be the misconception.
I am with a church that has a "headquarters" in Denver, so I'm not at all concerned about organisations founded in the USA.
Mike seems a very sincere fellow, and chapters in the US appear to have a lot of fun.
