the correct way to pronounce is
ski end doo (oo as in "zoo")

The only thing I do different from the video is I tie a half knot (Like when you start to tie your shoes normally)) before the twists this helps to keep the shoe well tied . If you have to walk any distance (Parade) or dance this helps to secure the shoe better.
Just my method.
