The Alberta tartan has a pink stripe to represent the province's wild roses. You can see it at http://www.tartansauthority.com/web/...r=By+Tartan+No.

If I think of any others, I'll let you know!

The Clan Rose white Dress tartan is sort of pink (a dark rose): http://www.tartansauthority.com/web/...r=By+Tartan+No.

Most of the tartans designed for princesses (except for the Diana Princess of Wales tartan) have rose in them. See: http://www.tartansauthority.com/web/...rtan=By+Tartan

However, these are not generally in production for the public, unless they are commemorative rather than royal.

One of the nicest modern tartans is the Mull Millennium tartan designed by Peter MacDonald -- and it has a pink stripe -- don't know why I didn't think of it sooner, because I like it so much. See it at http://www.tartansauthority.com/web/...r=By+Tartan+No.

You can only buy it from one source because it's copyrighted and the proceeds support Isle of Mull charities. Contact celtic@originals.freeserve.co.uk for information about purchasing it.

I think there's a pretty good image of it at http://www.tartansauthority.com/web/...r=By+Tartan+No.

    I agree it's a beautiful tartan!

I think Hamish's suggestion of Bruce of Kinnaird tartan is the best one -- a kilt in it would look really smashing with a Prince Charlie jacket and the white stripe would be good for a wedding, too. There's a true pink stripe and rose as well, and a lovely green that could be an accent colour in the wedding decorations. That's the one that gets my vote. Well done, Hamish!

Another thought is to have a tartan custom woven for you. What is your family tartan? Why not commission a variation of it with pink substituted for one of the other colors? This would be a family heirloom and a special commemoration of your wedding.

I've done this for clients before. Here's an example of a custom woven tartan for a MacGregor who didn't like red -- he wanted a black MacGregor tartan.
    http://kilts.albanach.org/custom.html

Why not do the same for your tartan, but incorporating the pink? Worth a thought, and not as cost prohibitive as you might think. I just charge $480 for a box pleat in a custom woven heavy weight wool.

    Aye,
    Matt

    Welcome aboard.

In Western cultures, generally speaking, the bride is the showpiece. The groom ought not do anything that upstages her (or he will pay dearly ever after). That said, a sensitive man such as youself would do very well indeed to wear something that compliments his bride's gown. I have racked my brain, consulted my library, poked around the web, and have come up short of ideas. Except: A few years ago a Hollywood costumer was selling the kilts from the original production of Brigadoon and they had one I was interested in. The particular tartan is not relevant, but what is relevant is that it had a silver stripe worked in by the costumer. Perhaps you could settle on any of a number of tartans that would support a pink line and have one worked in by someone competent to do it.

Just a thought. All the best to you.

Further to my earlier post in this thread. I have now been able to photograph the sample of 'Bruce of Kinnaird - Ancient colours' which Lochcarron weavers in Scotland sent me.

Whilst the colours are not precise in my photo, I believe they are truer than in the example provided by the Scottish Tartans Authority, where they are dark and dull.

For some reason I am unable to reproduce the image in this posting, but it is in my personal gallery here at "X Marks the Scot".

I am most definitely going to order a kilt for myself in this tartan, probably pleated to the stripe - but not the pink one!
