How do I like it?
I have a Rob Roy model.
Let's see. I am a stingy, miserly, cranky, crabby bastard.
Mine has seen a ton of abuse. Fights, spills, blood, scuffs, thumps, bangs, and sharp or otherwise rough edges when I have to squeeze my self between two objects or something. Being battered has only increased it's character. I too, ripped the tips of the tassels after it snagged the first time. It will probably take a lot more abuse too, and do it with out my coddling it along. It holds everything I need it to. Wallet. Tin of Altoids. Watch. Keys. Pen and paper. Everything. And it looks pretty good. A little touch of crisco and a rag to rub out the scuffs and buff it to a shine works every time.
My sporran is a lot like me. Tough and cheap. And beat up. It still does it's job with out fail.
I'd give it a good 9/10.
It needs a good strap. That's my only complaint about it. It comes with a POS chain. If it came with a good strap, it would have been a perfect 10.
And coming from me this means something, because I am a picky loud mouthed opinionated bastard.

I know EXACTLY what you mean... 4 easy fixes...
****1. Make sure the clasp wings are FLUSH with the inside front of the sporran. They may have bent up a little over time and bending of the sporran.**** best answer****
2. If you never USE the magnetic snap, take it off...
3. Put a small square of duct tape over the back of the clasp on the INSIDE of the sporran. That way, your fingernail won't get caught when slipping your hand in.
4. Like you said... be careful not to slide your fingertip down the inside of the front.
For everyone else... it's a situation that I've done less than a dozen times after wearing this sporran for about 2 years. Not a MAJOR problem by any stretch, but it HAS happened occasionally.
