    I love this reenactment stuff!
It's difficult to tell from the picture, but is that a Northwest trade musket the younger one of your boys is holding?
I shoot an old .45 Kentucky rifle with an original Brown Bess lock, I also made my horns, bags and other accoutrements to go with it.
Your pictures make these historical events look like so much fun!
    You got me thinking........
With my newly arrived USA Kilt and one of those 18th century style "puffy" sleeved shirts I think I might be able to put together a *barely* passable beginner's outfit to wear to one of those events.
Wear your kilt proudly, but carry a big stick

"The Piper's Apprentice" is just too cute for words. It's worth making into a poster. You could probably make some money selling it.

Brasil, my son is holding my Dutch Trade musket. My grandson is holding a weapon borrowed for the shot. I believe it was Lancaster fowler, but I'm not sure. The USA kilt, along with an 18th/19th century style shirt would likely be a passable start for most rendezvous. Most reenactments have fairly strict guidelines regarding clothing and equipment. Don't be put off though, come on in and join the fun.
Haukehaien, Julian Goodacre makes some fantastic very early style bagpipes. Unfortunately, I lack a fantastic budget for pipes. My next set though (don't know when) is going to be old style. Plain turned, or just combed, with chalice tops. Maybe I'll spring for horn or antler ring caps and ferrules.

    Couple more photos

Thought I post a couple more shots, taken at the NRLHF Eastern Primitive Rendezvous. I ran the Highland Games at the event, as I do for a couple of local Rendezvous. Lately we've been running a version of the games for kids. First shot is my youngest grandson (Piper's apprentice) starting out on his Caber toss.

The next shot is me piping the competitors down to the field for the Games. Since it's a head on shot, and I'm in the foreground, the fileadh mohr doesn't really show up, but there's plenty of kilts in the picture.
