I live in Canada now, but was born in England. For a few years, when I was a junior/middle school, I lived in Scotland. It was at school in Scotland that I was first introduced to kilts. Kilts were not part of the uniform, but were part of some occasional school activities. Those childrens kilts were pretty basic, often little more than tartan skirts.

My next experience with kilts was at university - I borrowed one for a ball, and had a ball!

When I went out to work, I forgot about kilts for a while, but have gradually started to get back into it. I bought an original UK, with pleats on the front and a fly -- I didn't like it much. I bought a mocker which I like much better.

I'm gearing myself up to get a classic tartan kilt haven't decided what yet.

I also wear sarongs at home, and at the beach or pool, and I find them very comfortable.

I find kilts quite bulky for lounging around at home, and hence the sarong. I've also tried the mountain hardware hiking kilt, but its a little small for me. I did try to get an XL when they came out, but everywhere was sold out by the time I tried. I've also tried Macabi, but I'm in two minds about it. I am intringued by the Spartan UK, and might try one.

Anyway, I look forward to joining in.

    Hi Cory,

It's great wearing kilts at university, isn't it?!

I wish I had had the money, and the courage, to have worn kilts all the time at university. The effect on the ladies was quite dramatic! So much fun.

    Mike
