What I would pay.
When I buy material from Mal-Mart I pay between $1 and $5 for a 60 inch wide yard. I would pay $10 TO $20 per yard for good material. When you add $200 (Kilt Maker's costs) and $60 per yard for heavy wool tartan you get a $660 per kilt and a hearty "NO WAY IN HELL!" from me.
These people deserve to make a good living but they price them selves out of the market. Which unfortunatly causes them to have to charge more per kilt which just makes things worse.
No way will I pay more than $20 per yard for material.

I had an upholsterer look at it today and he said it was definatly 13 oz. fabric.Until I find a way to conclusivly I.D it as Locharron,I'm going to call it generic, regardles of what the tag may say.I've seen Locharrons prices and the name was what motivated me to get it.Either way,a great find.
