I like the have a SKW standard in the Irish Natianal. I like it pretty good.

The Stillwater Standards are a good starter kilt...and I'll second the sentiment that more guys should start thinking the way you did...if they only knew what a blast it is to wer a kilt, they'd all be at it.

Best of luck and it was wise of you to consult the Xmarks forum before diving in and possibly getting something that you'd ultimately be unhappy with.

You don't say where you are in the world. If by chance there's a kilt rental shop near you that would probably be the least expensive way to experiement.

Two other inexpensive options;

The Utilikilt Original. That way you save the expense of a sporran.

The SportKilt line, but only if you go all the way with sewn down pleats, belt loops, and custom length.
