This may sound hokey... but spray paint works pretty good too. The stuff formulated for outdoor use such as BBQs and stoves works. Automotive paints work good too. Automotive vinyl dye in spray cans will coat just about anything permanently. If the boots start to look scruffy after a while... just paint 'em again.

Hi Graham ... I know Ham would always suggest my brown pair of boots. Its just unfortunate (for some reason thats hard to explain) I don't feel comfy in them .. even though the boots themselves are really comfortable to wear.
Iolaus/Blu ... what a great idea!
Since I'm always wearing green pullovers from the army/navy surplus store it would be great to turn the cream boots into a greeny colour. I will try and seek some advice from a local shoe repair shop, but if anyone on X Marks can suggest what dye or dyes to use to convert them, or what spray paints would be worth a try, I will give it a go and show you the results.

Hi Derek. (Jealous you've had snow and we haven't !)
Yep, have to agree with the coloured opinions.
As for the dyes, there are loads of Dylon -'In the washer' dyes but they will mark any rubber based materials with part of the colour and often the seams on your boots are glued/fixed with such materials, leaving a white line. You'll also find that the soles will still be bright compared with the dyed sections. Spray paint? - Yes, as part of the dramatics thing I have sprayed footwear before but it gets very stiff and canvas can shrink slightly. Just a few observations, but fascinated to see how you get on if you decide to try it.

Derek,
I think that is a very nice combination. I noticed the collar of the shirt outside of the sweater compliments the color of the boots.

Derek,
Another combination that might go well with your cilt would be a reddish-brown sweater, with wheat color hose and your brown boots.

I hope you don't mind a new member piping up in this matter... indeed, this is my first post here, although I have been kilted for about 5 years.
I say wear whatever works for you. I'm a black-boots-almost-all-the-time guy, but everyone has what they like.
Cheers,
Bill
