    Aye Jamie,

That's why I left Ohio in 1979. I visited Western Oregon and was hooked. I live within 60 miles of the Pacific Ocean, 100 miles of 11,000 foot mountains, miles from 6 foot diameter trees in a wide fertile valley that's just 100 miles from a major metropolitan area. Fortunately, I found it before I sunk roots in with wife and family. You're welcome to visit! ;-)

Very nice addition, Ron. I like the picture in which you are testing the swinging of the pleats; these kinds of shots really show off the quality of such a fine garment. And, yes, you are correct . . . pleated to the sett. Congrats!

    Thumbs up Good eye!

Hi Ron, congratulations for the choice, I loved the tartan design and the pleating. Also the quality of the fabric seems to be good, acording to the "movement" tests.

Anybody can tell me if with such an asimetric tartan as I have, a kilt pleating to the sett would look as Ron's one. or some colour would remain hidden?

    ¡Salud!

    Ron,

That is one nice looking kilt! And you certainly cannot beat that price. Indeed an honor to the ancestory, good for you.

Hey Inaki, the USMC tank is on the list....got a flyer from another Marine at work from Sgt. Grit or something like that...a $39 USMC tartan 'kilt'...right...of course the pic was of the front so no way to tell if it was gathered or pleated in the back... I've seen hand sewns in the USMC tartan and they are BEAUTIFUL...much more subdued colors than the poly at SportKilt.

And, MB Handy, the jacket is from What Price Glory...just posted a thread on all the replica short waisted jackets Jerry sells there. I love them. Have the enlisted Ike jacket you like, and the RAF battlejacket...that's earlier in my gallery.

I spend all the time I can at the river. I'm about 1200 feet above the Colorado River - unless you call Lake Powell the river too. But Lees Ferry, where the Colorado River come out of Glen Canyon is one of the most serene and spiritual spots on Earth. Its where folks put in for the raft trips through the Grand Canyon. But you can also hike upriver into Glen Canyon a couple miles or so, or up Paria Canyon, or just hang out on Paria Beach and watch Paria Riffle go by. Or, if you're feeling adventurous, you can hike down Cathedral Wash to the Colorado River a couple miles downstream from Lees Ferry.

The Colorado River is a magnificent river with a most adventurous history and many tall tales to tell.

You can take a float trip from the base of Glen Canyon dam to Lees Ferry through Glen Canyon...some of the best trout fishing in the world for those with an interest.

For me, kilts fit the spirit of the Colorado River and the people who have come here over the centuries. That weathered Gordon tartan fit right in with the colorful Chinle Formation, the green and red an purple layer of rocks just above the river.

Congratulations, Ron, on both the kilt & the fascinating ancestor.
