Welcome to the forum, Alex. You will definitely find a lot of support for your kilt wearing here. And wear the kilt you must, because you must set a good example for Scottish youth! Besides, why should everyone but Scotsmen enjoy regular kilt wearing?

Wear it proudly, I am 57 and wear my kilt when ever I can. Legs or no, my wife loves me in it. As my scottish grandmother used to say, "Heres to us and who's like us."

I used to wear a kilt to Scottish Country dancing until my wife took a stroke and so we had to give it up. My wife bought me a black kilt a few years back which I thought I would only ever wear to occasional funerals then a few weeks after I got it I suffered a leg injury and couldn't get into trousers so teemed it up with Argyle Jacket, white shirt and black tie and black hose as a kilt suit to wear to the office. It was so well received that after my leg was healed I still wore it occasionally to the office and also to conferences. Then I changed my job and stopped wearing it. Wife says I've still got the legs for the kilt, at 54, and would like me to start wearing it again. But so few men wear kilts even here in Scotland nowadays and those that do all look so much younger and more macho and I've bottled out of stepping out the door kilted a few times now. Please give me encouragement.

    C152,

But if you wear your kilt you will look oh so younger and more macho!

    Get out here and enjoy.

Why can't you fly a plane in a kilt? My friend does skydive in one and I will too when I get the needed level to "do stupid things in air on my own responsibility"

He needs to tie it to his knees to keep it away from covering the deployment handle but it looks really cool (not below though I think...) He uses a modified Sport Kilt with strings to tie it and he can open the kilt when landed with one pull. I will modify my Sport Kilt like that when I too get the C-licence.

    WELCOME!

If your wife says you got the legs, then you got the legs to wear the kilt.

Read the forum...just bits and pieces...you'll notice you just entered the worldwide brotherhood of kiltwearers.

You obviously like the kilt...that's enough reason to wear it. Just be yourself, age is of no importance...what you are is important...you're a kiltwearer!

    Welcome!

    Robin.

If you want to wear your kilt, wear it, and wear it with all the pride and respect the garment deserves. I'm 62 years old and have arthritic knees. I have to admit I don't wear mine as often as most here do, but I am starting to wear itmore and more often. (Aquiring more and more of them too) I don't give a hoot if anyone else thinks my legs are "pretty" I just enjoy the comfort.

Welcome, nice to see someone else here from Scotland.

You sound already convinced that the kilt provides maximum comfort, if you canna were it with pride in Scotland, where else??

Life is too short to worry what others say, wear the kilt proudly and know that there is a whole community of dedicated kiltwearers here to support you.
