Might I be safer buying a 44" kilt?
It's been my experience that Stillwater kilts run just a tad on the tight side (I have two). Could be for the reasons stated in the post immediately above this one, don't know.

Had my lovely wife measure me in accordance with Jerry's directions. Measured at 42.5 inches in the evening. Ordered a 44 inch the next morning. With the straps at the tightest it's about 1.5 inches too large.
Just lucky that I have a very accomplished seamstress as a wife. Only problem is I am at the bottom of her list. She has several paying customers to get finished with first.
A kilted buddy said that I should take her out for a nice dinner to get moved to the top of the list. Told him that the only thing that would do was give her a nice night out but I would stay at the bottom of the list. Told my wife that and before I could get to the punch line, she said, "Not gonna happen, you would still have to wait.".

Good plan. I like my three Stillwatrers, but you would do well to order less waist than you have. For example, I recently bought a new Standard. My flat (so to speak) hangin' out there waist, is 39. Nuts to that. I ordered a 36 and it is a tad loose. Order it a bit smaller than you think, bro.

Wow! I have been thinking about buying a SWK but I now have to question their quality control when it comes to sizing. I would have absolutely no idea what size to order after reading these posts. Half say they are small and half say large. Which is it?
