This is great, all of those lengths of tartan on the shelf are actually kilts. I just added 4 to my collection w/o even sewing a stitch. O'Neille

Ha ha ha... it does work. Single wide, or double wide sections of tartan?

THAT is why my kilts/belted plaids are listed that way in signature (as of Aug 2006).

Belted Plaids that WILL NOT become kilts
    Kilts (well made)
Material (belted plaids for now and kilts in near future-> as get to them)

Which has me at 18 for now in total (mostly belted plaids-> soon to be kilts.) Now, I NEED to get a darn sewing machine to speed up the process on a few "casual" ones.

Hmm... ya know, to think of it, and feilidh beag, or a belted plaid isn't really a kilt UNTIL you pleat it to put it on. If I remember right, the word kilt has a couple roots, one meaning to pleat cloth, the other meaning to hang cloth... so a kilt is pleated cloth, hung from a belt... If my memory serves me correctly.

Wanted to put in a good word for The Celtic Croft too. I got real lucky last year and scored a hand sewn kilt from them for half price...the error in measurements for whoever ordered it was just my size. The goods were quality and the service was excellent. How often can you have a hand sewn kilt in a few days for half price.

Pics in my galleries. But the point is the service was polite and fast.

Their economy kilts are made from the homespun fabric. The pleats aren't as sharp but they do hold their shape pretty well.
