Oh, but hold on one second. With the exchange rate, the black leather is only around $677.87!

Erin,
Robert is VERY cool. You can trust him. Nothing to fear on quality. And, the guy is fun to work with/talk too.
I have his saffron leather kilt. I call it "buckskin" he calls it saffron.
Only thing I would have done different is remember to order wider belt loops. But having the narrower ones does allow me to wear some of the fancy old belts I used to use to hold up my pants.

And don't over look the other leather work he does. Bailed me out on sporran straps a while back. He's a craftsman who cares. Have no fear.
Well, okay....if by chance one day in the mail you get a stack of leather swatches, you're doomed....the smell will suck the money right out of your wallet and you'll soon have a leather kilt wrapped around you.
Its true...it happened to me...
Have been wondering about the hemp kilts...but after my years of herbal farming and distribution I'm not sure it wouldn't be a temptation...yes, I know its different...but you don't know what insanity lives on in the remanents of my surviving brain cells....

"I'll have a kilt please, a nice hand sewn tartan, 16 ounce Strome. Oh, and a sporran on the side, with a strap please."

But Ron, think of it this way: when someone tells you "Whoa, dude, that kilt is SMOKIN'!" it can mean whatever you want! ;)

A top response lads and just as I suspected. Graham you read my mind: my intention in buying an RK was to have a good work kilt. I'm looking at the brown hemp with apron. Thanks Ron on the loops heads up, will look into that.
I must say tho I've never fancied a leather kilt, Hamish you were looking damn good in that one!
Well enough banter... better make some calls!

Getting in on this a bit late, but -
I've been impressed with RKilts since I saw my first one at the Fort Erie Games last year. Robert's craftmanship is superb, his prices are extremely reasonable for a quality, tailored non-traditional kilt, and he's a downright friendly fellow in his own right.
For everyone who swears by their UKs - at the Fergus Games this year there was a UKer who was sending people to Robert "for something better."
Ozmeath - get that order in; you won't regret it. I'm waiting for a natural hemp RKilt myself. Or rather, Robert's been waiting for his supplier so he can make the natural hemp RKilt I've been waiting for. Maybe a larger fabric order from Robert will make them pick up their pace a bit.

Well, I don't have an RKilt yet, but I have to add my endorsement for Robert's customer service and being an all around great person. We have exchanged many emails as I try to determine what kilt I want from him, and as Ron said, if he sends you leather samples, you are doomed! They are so soft, supple, and smell wonderful! I know that sounds strange, but they really do! Once we get settles into the new digs, I will be taking out the samples again to determine my nexk kilt purchase!
