I totally want some red/white diced war hose!
I'm book marking a couple of the sites... as they might come in handy.

Mine are Wallace Hunting, 11oz cotton from Wally World (AKA wal-mart). I've recently seen Campbell/Black Watch, Royal Stewart, & dress Stewart at Wally World..

Tell us more, Daniel. Are these "bag socks" sewn up from tartan fabric?

Incidentally, I don't think "cadhadh" is the correct spelling; at least Google has never heard of it.

    Over The Calf Argyle Socks

    fixed link*

Play around with the different color combinations... It all depends on how high over the calf they actually are. If you're short like me (5ft 5 1/2 inces), they might work...

as stated: I don't know if they'll work, or their quality... just an idea.. I've seen a kilt aficiando wear 18th century leggings as kilt hoes before and it looked pretty decent.. so maybe if someone wanted to be the Ginny pig (not me )?!.

Has anybody followed this up? I have emailed them about better postal costs, because at the minute they are charging over twice as much as the goods for shipping. No reply yet.

    Regards

    Chas,

Check this thread from last January: Argyle kilt hose...

They were not rated favorably. I suspect it's akin to the difference between this experiment from sockdreams.com

... and the custom made Xmarks tartan hose from Skye

I was lucky to find the (matching) MacLaren hose in a bargain bin for €50 (£35)

    They're from House of Tartan

They're £49,50....not cheap, but not as horrifically expensive as most others.

I don't want to knock JHiggins, but their diced hose are the same make and material as tube/gym socks. My pair lasted only 4 wears before a small hole opened at where the cuff folds over. Really be careful with those.

RE: the Jhiggins Diced hose: I was considering ordering a pair, until I found out that they are NOT 100% wool , something the ad does not say - had to be patient in exchanging emails , to find that out.

check Killkeel in Ireland, don't have the link, sorry. I do believe they were fairly affordable, and they do custom work with swatches.

What about our own Slohairt, looks to me as he has good ones?

I should not worry too much Trefor. I have never owned a pair and I am never likely to. I have always regarded them as rather flash and therefore unnecessary.

I've found a place that's doing tartan hose cuffs with a plain leg for £30... I'm sure tartan hose would be around the same price.
It's the same guy that supplies Scotweb but you get them for a fraction of the price.

    Do you want his details?
