Yeah I agree. In fact, the hips may even still be too small because I notice the 1st pleat on the left pulls a bit - never lays flat.
I got the standard. Well worth the money, but I think I would go with a heavyweight next time. I would have this time, actually, but they didn't have my size.

If you are really worried about the fit of the traditional kilt that is on order, email the company making it (or the guys you bought it from) and see if they measure to the tighest hole or to the middle hole on the strap. If you were measured in a shop, don't worry at all, as they likely know what they are doing, or will correct it if it is off.
I have heard that the Stillwaters fit a bit big in the past, so maybe that is all it is.

Congrats on receiving your new kilt! Now we have one more Calgary kiltie in the ranks. Maybe you can come out to the next kilt night here, once we figure out when to have it.

Yeah the shop measured me so I'm not too worried. I called and asked them about it and they said not to worry. They asked for mine to be made acutally at the outside notch on my request.
Next time there's a kilt night in Calgary I'll definately come out!

Depending on how formal your office party is, you could wear a sweater in a neutral color (black, off-white, navy, etc.) . . . the sweater would cover up a belt anyway. I frequently wear a solid black tie with my black watch. If it's not a formal event, a daytime sporran will work. Pretty much need the black shoes.
