OK, I'm in. My wife's father is a retired CWO, so it will be in his honor. Might even convince him to get one.

Okay, okay, okay.....
Put me down for a semi-traditional with matching flashes.
Why is a Navy guy turned Marine buying an Army tartan kilt....??
Couple key reasons. To honor my Uncle Don's service as a grunt slogging across France and Germany in the front lines in War 2. His company was the first to liberate Dachau.
To honor my father's service with the Army Air Corps in North Africa.
Out of gratitude for the boys of the First Armored who were kind enough to risk picking him up in the face of the onrushing Afrika Corps when he was shot down and crash landed between the lines at Kassarine Pass...if not for them I wouldn't be here.
For my great uncle Charlie in France in War 1.
For my great great grandfather who defended Washington D.C. against Jubal Early's raid. For my great great grandfather that fought in the Tennessee campaign of the same war....and for the other great grandfathers who fought in the War of 1812 and the Revolution.
And because I have two pair of olive drab kilt hose already...and two replica battle jackets with my uncle Don's insignia and my father's insignia on that it would go with...
And because I want another semi-trad and like this tartan best...
And because I think if Rocky can find a way to stock military tartans he'll sell a bunch...

Put me in for a semi trad, with flashes of the same.
Kid Cossack - thanks for the support! I was USMCR '86-92 and Army since, so I KNOW how unusual Marine support for anything Army is! Semper Fidelis!
RCallan - This is a plaid, Brother - not a uniform. While as a career Soldier I would be VERY offended if I saw you wearing a uniform jacket with ribbons and insignia - I would have nothing but praise for you in the Army Tartan. So if you want one, order it and wear it with pride, if only to help the rest of us get ours!
Lastly, Thanks, Rocky, for making this offer available to us!

Not being familiar with PV, how thick is that 11 oz.?
One more question; since it's an Army tartan, what does everyone think about a horsehair sporran to set it off?

Thanks Ron... I'd like to keep this thread on topic to get an accurate count.

If you send us a SASE, we can send you a swatch of PV (obviously NOT the Army tartan though).
As for the Horsehair sporran... if you want one, go for it. They're more for decorative purposes than utilitarian, but if it floats your boat...

Funny how minds work...
Tartan Texan, I'm guessing that if I saw her I'd probably think it was her late brother's or her late father's jacket and that she was wearing it to be hugged by him and wonder what the story was.
Rocky, did you point out that the Army tartan we're talking about is a fashion tartan - just like the RAF tartan and the Leatherneck tartan - that it is NOT official with the U.S. Army.
No one is gonna get arrested for breaking some law for wearing it.
Semper Fi,
