It looks familiar to me too but I've been unable to find it listed in my Scottish tartans book. I suspect its probably a fashion tartan from one of the Scottish knitwear shops - must look out for it when Ann drags me round the shops!

I was about to throw my 2 cents in...until I read Matt's post.

    Nothing personal, just rambling...
Ahh...then I humbly retract my previous statement. I do applaud you for tossing said boyfriend out, and having such rules about your kids. I feel exactly the same way.

This tartan is based on the MacThomas sett. The red lines that pass through the blue squares are rendered light blue in this version and the young lady in question is wearing the weathered colours. Another tartan which is almost identical to MacThomas is Blair.

The mill is Batley and the width is 60" for either 11 or 13 oz. If you want the material it's $65 / Yard.

I am as ever impressed with the wealth of knowledge shared among the forum members. Thanks a lot for the input. I certainly now have enough to embark on another kilt quest (to quote Hagrid: I should not have said that...)

    Cairngorm Modern

I KNEW that I'd seen it before (I think we had a kilted skirt in that tartan in our shop). I looked through about a dozen swatch books and found it.

Please note that I tried to find it through a few different Tartan search site and came up empty. When I look up "Cairngorm" I get a different tartan. This could be a fashion tartan that's not registered, but someone CALLED Cairngorm.
