That sounds about right. You will find, I am sure that given time the jokes will stop, but here is the cool thing the compliments keep coming.
I was at work the other day in my kilt and I had to stop working to talk to a co-worker who thought that my wearing a kilt was just great, she was saying stuff like I should do it everyday, at least you have the legs for it, it was great.
People used to say stuff like "nice costume", but not anymore. Take heart my friend it sounds like the place you work is way more free thinking than mine,
(I work in financial print).
I am sure your co workers might have some good natured fun with it/you but that will probably be the extent of it.
It has also been my experience that in a work setting regimental is a big no-no
Enjoy the freedom.

Hey McM,
To get around the regimental problem, I once saw a fellow that had Stanfield boxers TATTOOED on!! OUCH!! Something to think about though.

Sounds like wonderful fun to stretch your fellow workers.

As McMurdo suggested, it's not a good idea to go regimental at work. My co-workers' reaction has been mixed. Our department head tolerates my showing up kilted (when I'm off-duty) by calling me, "Our official kilt-guy." A few of the guys I work with regularly have expressed interest in getting kilts of their own. Some people think it's wierd. Some people think it's great. So far, no one has said I can't wear them.
It's gotta be great to work in such a progressive environment.
Congratulations!

That's great Rob,
We do it one company at a time. I've been kilted full time at work for 17 months now (mental health agency). Our dress code is, "We don't have a dress code, but please don't make us institute one." And, of course they're big on "diversity."
There certainly are many tightly controled businesses where they would find a way to disallow kilts, and there are businesses where kilts wouldn't be practical for safety reasons.
But, I'll bet if folks would read their employers Mission Statements and core policies they'd find a language of tolerance and cultural diversity that will support their being able to work kilted.
Congrats on your willingness to show up kilted.

I have also found it wise not to carry a sgian dubh into my place of work even if it is sticking out of my kilt hose.
