So I'm pretty much wanting something 10 ounces and lighter? And what is PV?

MacHummel, is it possible for you to get some Morgan fabric and craft one? Or is that where it gets really expensive?

PV is polyviscose, a synthetic material that has gained some popularity with kiltmakers.

I assume, like most highland athletes, you wear bicycle shorts beneath your kilt. Ten-ounce wool would suit your needs nicely. It doesn't NEED to look as crisp as a dresss kilt and it's a bit cooler than the heavier stuff.

Just noticed this and thought it may be of interest and by some odd chance the correct size.

    Colin -

I believe, though, that that vendor is reputed here to be the source of all manners of evil, woe and frustration. That's what's kept me from ordering from him anyway - he has the 21.5 length for we wee folks, too.

Yes they are, but I also believe it was riverkilt that ordered a premade one and had good service. You never know if they have cleaned up their act. Besides, what are the chances that is the correst size.

I will be throwing this summer in my USA Kilts Casual. It's Polyester-Viscose and it looks good and it's light. Sounds about perfect. After throwing I'll change into my Clan tartan.

matter of fact, this might be an excuse to buy a Casual IN the clan tartan, eh?

Anyway, www.thescottishweaver.com sells the blue Morgan tartan in a *very* lightweight wool (7/8 ouce) for around $42 a yard. I don't think I'd make a kilt in that.

Instead, I'd order 2.5 yards of the 11 ounce stuff and get a 5-yard kilt made. However at $70 a yard, there's no way around just the material costing you $170.

How about wearing the Modern MacKay? That's available in Poly_Viscose and Rocky can sew one of those up for you in his casual model.....BTW, I'd five times over rather have a USA Kilts casual than a Sport Kilt, and they cost about the same.
