I wear a traditional 16oz kilt, I have found that I have got used to the feeling of the wool, however I would say auld argonian has a point, wear boxers or something if you need to. When I wear my kilt to work now I always go with something on underneath, just in case I have also found that if I dont, I get nervous about what my coworkers might be seeing.

kilt comfort
My kilts are all lightwieght pv or cotton drill material,so chafing not really a problem. Also many of my shirts are longer length, which when combined with boxers provids comfort without loss of 'ventilation'. Maybe hairy legs help too!
Hi to Barry,Tim also from Dorsetshire.

May I suggest some less aggressive washing agents?
And I don't mean what you use to clean the kilt, I mean what you wash yourself with.
The shops are full of miraculous gels, lotions, etc, which, according to the ads, can be copiously lavished on the body or hair. Trouble is they are all made up of chemical cocktails that cannot possibly suit everyone. Some are even difficult to rinse away. As a result, your skin loses all its natural oils and suppleness, and becomes prone to irritation and even infection.
Water, on the other hand, has good cleaning qualities, and needs only a little soap to to give good results.
I have never found good woolen clothing to be itchy, whether socks, kilts or pullovers.
Treat you skin with respect!
