Reports are not foolproof. I was thinking of a manual backup when I raised my question. Obviously reading every forum is a major task and there are specialised areas which might as well be Russian to the non-afficianados. If I had seen McMurdo (yes fame again McMurdo! ) at 99,952 posts, I would have made a manual note to keep an eye whenever I saw a new posting from him just in case he slipped through the net on the report and the unreported number of posts required for the next level at kilted key grip qualification were still some way off. As the ranks rise the number of members who have achieved it fall. Where the gaps are relatively small the report obviously picks them up sooner then it possibly does with larger increments. A 10 post margin either way could be easily missed by a report in this kind of situation.
Not that I will be due another rank for some time now as I have reached the bigger gap divide.
Of course it's all fun and quality is more important than quantity and the gentle hint alert by PM to moderators is available as a last resort.
