I wonder since seal is a no go here in the states due to Marine Protection acts and such, if there is a ban on "Roo" fur as well.
Probably on some varieties there is a prohibition. We've been looking into this for our Scottish trip, I dont want to take it if its going to be confiscated by customs/quarantine. Some rare varieties are prohibited in the UK, this is just a plain Eastern Grey, we've got millions of them.

Various, the back is the thickest we have (3mm approx), the roo skin is too light so it's been bonded to another piece of leather (2mm approx) to stiffen it a bit. The gusset is upholstery leather which is soft, flexible as required. The upholstery leather I've got heaps of in my workshop, but would buy from an upholstery supplier otherwise or possibly scraps from an upholsterer if i only needed a small amount. The heavier leather comes from a supplier called Birdsall, but I understand Tandy is your main craft leather supplier in America.

Marie my wife does leatherwork as a hobby (for as long as I've known her) and I'm a Motor Trimmer/Upholsterer by trade and I like to fidget with unusual jobs too (a challenge)

Thanks, the cantle came from an ebay trader who wouldn't communicate with me and took a hell of a long time to mail it. They are hard things to find.

We had friends who grew tired of reenacting, so they gave us quite a load of stuff to get rid of for them. Basically, "just find someone who can use it, we don't want it anymore". For whatever reason, there was a Kangaroo pelt in among the goodies (aren't a lot of kangaroos here in South Jersey). I thought, "What more natural material to make a pouch from, than kangaroo?"

The kangaroo sporran is on the top right. The cantle is from Stillwater kilts.
