How do you respond?

My most frequent reply to The Question...

"Dreadlocks."

You can actually see the brain damage taking place as they try to think about that.

Aside from "the Question", what is the one (or two) question(s) you most often get about wearing your kilts, and what is your most frequent response to it?

The one that pops up a lot for me is:

"Hey man, where's your bagpipes?" to which I typically reply "Under my kilt!" This is always good for a laugh together, and tends to disarm any initial malicious intent.

Depending on the situation and the person asking, I may add "Wanna give 'em a toot?"

That's the question I get the most, almost everytime I wear my Kilt. I always laugh when people ask me, I find it funny, because I know they think it's the first time I've heard it . I usually answer with "Under my Kilt" or "I left 'em at home". I haven't been taunted by any questions about my Kilts, 'cept for my family, but that's all in fun.

At my wedding, it was about 65*F so I got a lot of "Aren't you freezing?" I gave the same reply as auld_argonian. But for the "why are you wearing a kilt" question, i simply say that I'm proud of my Scottish heritage.

My favorite reply nowadays is when some guy asks me the question. I answer back with "why are you asking another guy about his underwear ?"
That pretty much shuts 'em up.

Answer: " No. I'm Irish, English and Dane. I wear a kilt because I got tired of ripping the knees out of pants when I fell down blind drunk!"

As to THE question, my latest answer is "Are you buying dinner and drinks?"
