    Don't want to look foolish.
    Don't worry! you look awesome!

One suggestion...it seems your hose touch your knees....1 inch or so lower would look better imho (others might disagree).

I only have two comments. The first is really a matter of my personal taste (which I know several others on this board share), and that is that I really don't like the neo-Jacobite style shirts. I agree with McMurdo that it tends to make the kilt look more like a costume. However, there are a lot of folks who like them, they are very popular, and you'll certainly see a lot of them at the Highland games. So if you like it, don't worry about sticking out. Personally, however, I'd wear a golf shirt in a nice shade of blue to tone well with the tartan.

The one thing I would really encourage you to change would be the cap. I was told long ago when I first began wearing kilts that the best rule of thumb is to not wear a tartan cap with a tartan kilt. Solid caps look much better. (I know some people who have managed to really pull off a tartan cap worn with a kilt, but on the whole, I think this is sound advice to help folks avoid looking like an extra fro Bridagoon).

Other than those two minor points, your outfit looks great. And, as I stated, these are minor points. You could go to the Games dressed just as you are in the pic and fit in quite nicely, no doubt.

Another minor suggestion, pull the flashes around so that the front edge will line up with the outside edge of your shoelaces (if they were there).

You will fit in quite well at the games.

You know, I think you look fantastic and comfortable just as you are.
As much as everyone here has their personal preferences, I say go with what YOU like and you'll look fantastic just because of how comfortable you are.
Congratulations on your Kilt's maiden voyage.

I don't love those shirts either, but if YOU like it, go for it. I think your cap looks great with your kilt. Maybe hitch the kilt up just a bit and show some more knee.

As someone said above, move the flashes around to the front a bit. The front edge should hit the middle of your shin. Add a kilt pin and you'll be stylin'!

I've seen flashes worn on the side and towards the front. Even Dr. Fides in his excellent e-book simply states that:

Flashes are brightly coloured strips of wool or cotton that hang from the folds in your kilt hose. They are in effect a decorative garter, that help to hold the hose (socks) up. Bring the hose turnover down to cover half the double loop of the flash with only the bottom half showing, to the outside of the leg.
Accordingly, I am somewhat sceptical of "rules" that say the flash must be aligned to a specific point, unless of course one is in uniform, such as in a military unit or pipe band.

After all there is no such thing, as the dreaded

    Best regards,

    Jake

You look great. Wear the combo as you like - that's one important thing. Another is don't pay much attention to comments on flashes, hats, shirts, etc., unless conditioned with "in my opinion,...", "for my tastes..", or "I prefer...". I have been chastised for wearing flashes to the front and to the side. Wearing a vest untucked with a belt, a vest without a belt, and tucking a vest in a belt. As long as you do not disgrace what the kilt stands for - you are okay.
