Still working on the plans for a reccy with the SAH's International Study Tour of Architecture in Scotland...that means that wife goes to scope out the sites and accomodations and the family tags along (at our own expense, mind you). The great fun is the actual tour which usually includes about twenty scholars and interested parties which would take place the following year...they're usually a really great crowd...interested and interesting people. It is said that if you want to make the tour group your friends for life, all you have to do is buy them a round of drinks...that should pose no problem in Scotland. They ran a tour of Japan a couple of years ago and it was so popular that they've had to repeat it twice just to accomodate all of the folks who missed the first go-round...hoping the same thing for this project!

Scotland is great any time of the year, the rain is a little bit warmer in the summer

It would be nice but realisticaly I'll never go. Should I ever make it back across the pond it'll be to show my family my old haunts. Although if I ever retire with money I'd like to do the canals including Scotland. Now to pay up on the wife's insurance policy...

Lets see, lived there for two years, brought my wife there on vacation, and just the other day my son asked to go, so maybe someday we'll return.

    Best regards,

I first went to scotland when I was in the scouts on a camping trip there is a big camping site just out of glasgow many years ago (did that twice).

Then I returned for a castle holiday with friends in south scotland (near gretna green) did tours in the area (recommend that to anybody!!)

Then I ended up working for more than a year and a half in aberdeen, edinburgh and leith. I went back again a number of years later for another job I had to aberdeen but only for short visits over the course of a year.

Both me and the wife are off there for a summer!!!!!! holiday in september.. can wait..I even convinced my wife islay is a nice island ;) had nothing to do with th trade thereapon ;)

If I had my way I would be living there ;)

My wife gave me a tour package at Christmas. We spend 3 nights at Ferintosh on our own at the end of July, then connect with the tour in Glasgow on 30 July, make our way north, and end up in Edinborough on the 3d of August at the Military Tattoo.

    Something to look forward to!

Made it as far as London, England. Didn't have the time nor the money to head up to Scotland. Someday.... Someday...
