The hose are actually the official Boy Scout uniform socks. They do look with the kilt.

Congratulations on the Vigil Honor. I only made brotherhood, but my youngest son got the Vigil honor with Black Eagle Lodge, Transatlantic Council.

Thanks all ![Smile](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
Those are indeed official BSA knee socks. It's a well known fact that you might be a Boy Scout if you think knee socks are cool, something that also applies to kilts!
That capote is one of the warmest garments I've ever owned, and it's kept me warm through many cold nights. Neither my dad nor I can figure out how Justin's got so much longer, though (as can be seen in the picture). We all used HBC 4-point blankets and the same pattern, yet his nearly reaches his ankles, and he's taller than both of us! (I'm still the big brother, though). If there's a HBC tartan, I'd certainly like to get a kilt in it.
I think there are several scouters and scouts interested in getting a kilt in my council, either had been or after asking me about mine. I always make sure and mention that I have gone hiking and camping kilted.

I'll tell you what, I went kilted to some of my meetings. and this prick from council is all harping on me. telling me how that "thing" isn't an approved scout garment.
I was in an Irish National with BSA knee sock, and flashes, with a Class A uniform Neckerchief and all.
I probably didn't help it at all when I brought up a point that as the troop historian I have found numerous paintings and pictures of scouts throughout time kilted. (especially at national jamboree)
I also went to my Scout Master Conference tonight kilted not a big deal though, it was just me and my scoutmaster. but when your going for Eagle they sometimes get a bit touchy.
anyways, when I do get Eagle (sometime in July) I will be there kilted, I don't care. and I grew out of my scout pants, they are way to expensive to replace too.
you guys are looking great, Glad to see others making it to the top ranks. Congrats!
