Ain't it fun!?
Sounds like you have the huevos to stand tall when kilted. Enjoy the adventure.
And, hate to tell you this but you REEK of a kilt addict and I don't venture it'll be long before you're galavanting about NW Ohio in a hand sewn traditional 8 yard kilt and purposly putting a little extra kilt swish in your step when you get "the look."

Call me a 'kilt horse'
I received my Stillwater Economy in the MacKenzie tartan. It is great. I am now looking for my next one. I thing that for #3 I might wait a little and spend the money for a nice wool kilt. I am really stuck on the blue in tartan on the front of a Saltire kilt.
By the way on a Saltire kilt is the entire tartan referred to as Saltire?

Following the Goth tone for a moment...
my daughter realized that one of the things she likes about me wearing a kilt with her is that she gets a rest from people staring at her.
Oh, yeah, you'll love wearing the kilt once you get more familiar with it. On my wedding anniversary we walked the beach, me in my kilt, changed shirts and went to one of the fanciest restaurants, and I was thinking of changing shirts again to go to my son-in-law's Goth band show except, of course, it was my 30th anniversary.

It's all easy street from here buddy! Wait till you have someone almost (or actually) run into something with their shopping cart because they're staring at you.

Well I had something really wierd this weekend to; I went to a music festival here in the Netherlands, there I was watching one of the bands kilted of course and some guy comes up with a really cheap dodgey looking kilt and said 'Wow man at last a guy in a real kilt!'. He then proceeded to compare his pleats with mine..I didn't comment that he in fact should have the pleats to the back anyhow.. and with that said his goodbyes and toddeled off the next day I saw him again only this time jeans!!
But the other thing was I had absolutly no comments or stares until later on during the day after large amounts of acohol were consumed!! And only by women!.
out of about 300,000 people 3 comments! 2 were just giggling and making remarks about my legs and other things under my kilt! the other said wow a real scotsman! that was nice or course becasue I am actually english ;)
Im not to sure what remarks the one guy had walking around in a full length black denim skirt tight leather muscle tee shirt and these really wierd sunglass that fix on the top of your head and make you look like a martian.
But, i guess he didnt care !!

...that reminds me of the Rowan Atkinson 'Blackadder' joke where he claims that a war has not been fought so badly since Olaf The Hairy, Chief of the Vikings, mistakingly ordered 80,000 battle helmets with the horns on the inside.
