    I may have to get me one of them Navy kilts. I served my sentence...I mean I proudly served in the Navy!

    (I actually did not know the Navy had a tartan)

    Technically, the U. S. Navy doesn't have a tartan. The one we're refering to as "Navy Tartan" (as handsomely modeled at the top of this thread) was designed and registered for the sub pen at Edzell, which was a joint Navy / Air Farce base. That's why it's got Navy blue and Sky Blue in it. However, in usage it has come to be accepted as being the tartan for the U. S. Navy in general, though the Navy has never recognized it as such.
