good review and I will agree the measuring for one person is a pain I am going to wait till I get back from being TAD in DC and have my wife help. Wish he had the new desert camo instead of the old style.

He? what's this third person he stuff? I'm right here.

I don't usually cut in on a thread talking about other kiltmakers products but this one seems to be directed to me now.

I had some choices when I picked the fabrics I would carry. The reason I chose the Chocolate Chip Camo is because I wore it during Desert Storm. So I'm a little more partial to it over the 3 Color Desert Camo. Choices

I also carry the MarPat over the CadPat. Choices. In this case it was because the CadPat is not as nice a fabric for kilts, and I was one of Uncle Sam's Misgueded Children. Again choices.

dpseadvr, if you can find me a kilts worth of MilSpec fabric I will be happy to make you a kilt from it. Not the after-market stuff from the fabric store, most after-market Camos fade something fierce after just a few washes.

As to the measuring, please watch the video on the website. I designed the measuring system to be as easy as I could for one person to do it alone. If you are having problems please PM or e-mail me with a phone number and time you will be free and I'll talk you through it. I just had digital phone set up in the shop and can call anywhere in N. America for free.

From your nic and your mentioning being TAD I assume your currently on Active Duty so this comes under "giving back to those who serve".

dpseadvr, be very aware that Steve Ashton is a garumpy old fart. Qualities we look for in a kilt maker. Some times I wonder what possessed anyone to let him in this country in the first place. He does make an excellent kilt though. McMurdo linked to a thread I made when I received my FK (I will fix the pics when FK fix their site and I swipe the piccies again. I still love my FK kilt, every bit as rugged as the man that made it. You mentioned that you will wait until your wife can assist in measuring you, this is a must. Also give some thought as to the pockets, they do come in handy. Especially the front slash pockets, Man, how I wish I had the pockets on all of my kilts.

The only big problem I had with this (desert camo) kilt had nothing to do with Steve or his workmanship, but rather hose. Thanks to McMurdo I found some inexpensive ones on ebay, their beige match the khaki so closely. Should you go with the hose I would recommend going with bulk and choosing all the colours you want. Happy kilting.
