The "By Choice", but the "Not Blood" seems almost negative. And really "By Choice" says it all. Now if you want some a little longer... perhaps something like "Fellowship By Choice". Something that really shows XMTS's open-mindedness and friendly nature.
Anyway, just my 2 cents.

I don't see how allegiance can enter into it, we are in X Marks my choice and there is no Chief to swear allegiance to. We are regularly asked to give allegiance to the rules but that is to the rules of the site.
The camaraderie we have with each other in the site that has brought us together and formed friendships provides a form of personal allegiance which goes beyond any feeling of mere duty.

I personally liked the Flame-Haired Celtic Amazon Goddess' suggestion of "In Kilts Fellowship". But then again I am very very biased...![Laughing](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

I'm with Cavscout and Brucek. As is it eliminates those who do have a blood connection with things Scottish. I vote no.

How about "In Kilted Fellowship"?
And I can understand and appreciate your bias...

I fail to see this logic about excluding people with Scottish blood at all, choice is inclusive, not exclusive.

I agree. 'Personal allegiance' is exactly what I meant. But it's difficult to spell it out in a four worded motto.

The basis of "By Choice, not Blood" was not in regards to those of us with Celtic heritage, it was in regards to the fact that we are all part of the Xmarks "Clan" by choice and not by blood relation to each other. I don't see how it takes away from my heritage.
Now, if it was in reference to the choicing of wearing a kilt, than yes I can see that point. We all choose to wear a kilt, but some of us do to honour our family heritage where as other do it because they look freakin' cool.
