The blue in this kilt is very dark (much darker than it appears in the pictures) and at night in a dimly lit room it looks almost like a black kilt with red lines. The sett shows much better in the brighter ancient colours (light blue), but I had to buy this one in modern colours as it was the only one available from this kiltmaker at the cheaper price. As I said I only bought it for casual wear and I wear my 9 yard ancient Buchanan kilt, or the darker modern MacDonald of The Isles, which has a wonderful white line in it to formal events in the evening. However it does look fabulous in daylight, especially sunlight, and I've had lots of compliments while out and about during the day in it. On reflection it was a pretty dumb thing to do to want to sell it, and I'm so glad now that I've held on to it.
