In a weird bit of synchronicity I just saw Castle Eileen Doonan in the movie "Elizabeth: The Golden Age". It played the role of Fotheringhay Castle where Mary Queen of Scots was beheaded.
The castle appears in a shot exactly like the painting about two minutes into the movie, then again much later on.

Thanks everyone for your kind remarks ![Smile](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
I do about one painting a month on average but this has been the only one with any Scottish/Celtic roots to it. I do plan on doing more though.
I would love to see more artwork from our other members!

That is pretty. With your permission I'd like to do a "save picture." But I will not without your say-so.

That's a good painting. I need to work on my landscapes.
When I was younger, I made a living as a sign and display artist for about 12 years, I eventually lost interest. Did lots of airbrushing and hand lettering.
I really need to scan my portfolio, only a tiny percentage of my work is in digital format.
I painted this sign for the aquarium at the Mall of America several years ago, it's still there:

These were really basic sample pieces I made for a custom auto airbrushing workshop I used to teach on a regular basis:

Nice stuff!
I've got an airbrush but I don't have a lot of experience with it. I want to try more of it this winter.
I've seen some amazing stuff with it though!
Like kilts, art is just a part of who I am.

Eilean Donan is currently the home of Clan MacRae.
Here is a little history on the castle:
Historically, the castle, like most in these parts, has had a rather chequered past. Originally built in 1220 by Alexander II as a defense against the Vikings, it subsequently became a stronghold of the Mackenzies of Kintail (later the Earls of Seaforth) who installed the MacRaes as hereditory keepers. Then in 1719, it was destroyed whilst acting as a garrison for Spanish troops fighting for the Jacobite cause on behalf of the 5th Earl of Seaforth. Restoration work was only started two hundred years later and not completed until 1932.
