The others have said it, but I thought I would put in my experience as I wear a kilt daily. When I am at work I make sure that I am covered up, I have been accused of being regimental at work but I have assured my superiors that indeed I do not go regimental at work, they are fine with the kilt and I would not want anything to hinder my choice of dress at the office.

When I go to the chiropractor, or the dentist I do not go regimental. Any other time I use my own judgment.

Sometimes I am, sometimes I'm not it helps keep the myth alive.

As I said to my daughter's grammar school principal when I wore a kilt while acting as a chaperone on a field trip, "Don't worry...I could do a handstand right now and modesty would be preserved."

    Asked & Answered

While I was strolling through the mall yesterday a mid-teens Valley Girl type rushed up to me and without introduction or invitation asked, "Are you really naked under that thing?"

One thing I have in common with Oscar Wilde is that I can resist anything but temptation. That was entirely too good an opening to let pass. I gave her my blandest, most paternal smile and replied, "Aren't you naked under your clothes?

She gasped, blushed, and vanished without another word.

I am 36 and new to wearing kilts. Actually love wearing them for the simple fact of not having to wear anything under them so if I had a place that I felt compelled to be modest - I would rather just wear pants than underware under the kilt!

As for women being tough - hell yes! One of my most difficult kilt checks was from a senior lady at a family function. I finally figured out the answer to solve he from standing at my side...

Since you have the courage to ask if I am regimental, I give you permission to find out for yourself.

She giggled, blushed and walked away. She did come back a few minutes later with the same question and when she got the same answer - left in giggles again. I actually think that made her day. (No she didn't check)

It's like wearing a kilt in public for the first time - once you have tried it, nothing else will do!

I usually go reg when I'm kilted "unless" I'm gonna ba sitting down a long time, wool does get a little itchy after a while.
This saturday in particular though it's not an option, it's a requirement.

I'll share my experience to join in encouragement.

I've been wering kilts for what...6 weeks now?

The first week was all about getting used to it, with underwear of course even inside the house.

One day I decided that it was time to go out in public kilted so I took my dogs for a walk. I'm sure that in the eyes of a veteran kiltie, I must have looked entirely stiff and uncomfortable but what the heck, it was my first time out.

But I really liked and enjoyed the freedom, even with undies on.

So for my second outing in a kilt I went to a local restaurant to pick up our carry out order, this time also with undies but by then I'vebeen wearing my kilt for a couple of weeks and I was feeling completely at ease.

So I decided from that point on, it would be regimental for my third time (and onward), which came to be as a movies/restaurant date with my wife last week.

It felt so natural I forgot I was wearing nothing but the kilt. I would even say that sitting down was made more comfortable without undies than with them.

I guess that self comfidence translates into your posture as I was walking taller, straighter and planting firmly every step I took.

    A great sensation.

Next step will be going to work kilted, but It will have to be wearing underwear so as MacMurdo mentioned, not to jeopardize my wearing it at work.

    cheers!
