Inquiring minds want to know.
The lap quilt that she made for me has been washed maybe, twenty times, with no diminished colors. So I'd say pretty good.

Wow, thanks for all the excellent suggestions. I can't believe that I never thought of just stitching it into the lining like that, W2F. I think that's the plan for me...simple and effective.
And I can already think of other projects for which the ink jet trick will be perfect. Brilliant!

With all of these great suggestions, I am thinking of hand embroidering a name label to put inside my new $10 kilt jacket...it has the band's name written in it quite large and not nicely printed...I'd like to cover it up!

I'd thought of that once or twice before. Mine are simple - a stitched sword on the right belt loop (Black Taylor).
CT - gotta remember those

This thread has prompted a mini-project for me. I have a few kilts, that I never remember what tartan they are. So I think I will make a couple of pages of labels and sew them in the ones that cause me trouble.

Here's another label made by w2f. Surely this will never wash out. ![Smile](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

A truly permanent label could be made with one of these. -and if you are doing a bunch of them, it would soon pay for itself. It also appears to be customize-able, which would make it even more useful.
How about a permanent, sewn in, pre-weighted kilt pin for instance?
