Yes, I'm still mysified at how a worsted weight sock is gonna fit in one's shoes, but I wear my shoes pretty snug or they aren't comfortable with my freakishly narrow feet.

I know absolutely nothing about knitting (other than I like big, wooly sweaters) but I love the look of that pattern. If my grandma wasn't 96 years old and mostly blind, I press her into service to make me a pair of those hose. As it stands, I'd feel kind of bad asking her. Too bad she's the only knitter I know.

Someone saw the shepherd's check hose I was wearing at the Stone Mountain Games and when I told them my wife made them for them, they promptly asked her how much she would charge to make them a pair.

Her reply was, "Well, he had to marry me...."

The person said he couldn't afford her price! lol...

So would you be picking up the supplies, or are the girls the ones picking up the supplies?

Well, I think you'll be fine with worsted weight in pure wool (squishy) and in Ghillie Brogues as they're not so closed. However it is certainly a very warm Kilthose, that much is certain.

    Wow!

Okay - those hose are next.

I'm within hours of completing my first set of hose. I'll post pictures as soon as they are complete (honest!). And then I'm gonna start on the Knitty hose pattern!!! I might add some interest to the leg; maybe a cable or repeat some elements of the cuff pattern... we'll see.

I'm going to start the brioche beret from Knitty as soon as my current hose are done. Here's the link to the pattern:

I need an instant-gratification project. I think a beer bottle cozy would be quick and easy...
