Modern technology is amazing. I remember my first time in combat, we had to go through all kinds of crap to get a call through, and then it went through those hard working volunteer ham radio operators. You and your loved ones always numbered each letter of the mail, as they would arrive weeks, months late and way out of order.

And now you go back to the hooch, and log on.................. amazing.

I fondly remember the hot chow brought to the field in those big OD green thermos-type containers called "mermite" (sp?) cans - especially the grits and scrambled eggs. The aluminum lining of the cans invariably turned the eggs green...!
