Wear what you would normally wear with pants, and wear it with confidence. After the first time, you'll be fine.

I'm retired, so I can't wear a kilt to work. But my advice is try to feel as comfortable and self assured as possible. If you present a calm (non-nervous) appearance, it will set most others at ease.

At my office holiday party a couple of weeks ago, my boss dropped this one on me: "Why don't you get a nice jacket and tie and wear that to the office on Fridays?"
Being totally caught off guard like that, I think I kind of got that deer in the headlights look and stammered, "I couldn't. I wouldn't!" as I imagined my career hitting the tartan ceiling. I probably missed an opportunity, though. I overheard my boss's boss's boss, the host, saying to a colleague the kilt was a hit with her family.
So, good luck with that and enjoy it. My advice is to keep it simple and conservative to start out with. Even though it's casual Friday, try to look better than if you were going to a barbeque.
Regards,
Rex.
At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

Good luck, and hope it goes well.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

haha belsen. Actually talked a guy who wears his kilt to work. He said the CEO whole-heartedly approves!!
My concern is more with first time nervousness with wearing a kilt to my place of work.

i would of just turned up in it. its a formal item of clothing people wear it a dinners weddings funerals and so on.
that shouldn't matter anyway any 1 should wear what they want when they want it a right of freedom. making dress codes stops people from showing there culture and personality. it turns u into a cog in a machine and makes u bland.
i don't want to rant on this is about kilts not speech of revelation lol
im glad u got what u wanted anyway!

My boss's boss approves, and I don't think her bosses even know about it. I'm glad for that, because I'm almost certain they would ban it. Man, her bosses are moving closer and closer to a uniform. They seem to forget that we work at a dormitory cafeteria, not a MacDonalds or some such. Ugh.
But whatever, I'm wearing my kilt there, and that is still pretty cool. Adam, you'll find that ladies compliment your legs a lot, so be ready for that.

McDonald's is at the caliber of requiring a dress uniform?
Adam, have you decided yet what you're going to wear?
