That was some really pretty country I rode through last September. Aside from shocked surprise at the storms and property damage, I hope the people (and you and your family!) made it through all right. This is a day and night for the record books.

Todd,
Glad to hear you are OK!
I have family just west of Sparta and also in Rogersville. I couldn't find mention in the news, have you heard anything about those areas? Can't raise them by phone.
Thanks, Moosedog

Yikes!
Twisters just sound downright scary. I'm glad we don';t have them out west.

Yeah, but out there the earth just decides to start shifting under your feet from time to time. (That can happen in the Midwest area as well. There is a major fault line running through southeast Missouri.)
Actually, tornados can happen almost anywhere. It's just that in the Midwest, the conditions are favorable for them so much more often.

Dave,
It must be what you are used to. I remember the big Loma Prieta earthquake, it was pretty terrible, lives were lost, and places that I hung out at were destroyed. Still it was an earthquake, a very bad one but still an earthquake. Tornados just seem...freaky, alien.
Cheers

Yeah, last night was something else. I think I bring odd weather with me wherever I go. Last year round this time I had just moved to springfield and we had an ice storm that devestated the area and now a string of tornadic activity in Jan. Might be time for me to move on. . . . . anyway, I was lucky and came out just fine. I live and work about as SE in Springfield as you can go. I work graveyard shift so I had to keep a bunch of guests calm and some locals living in mobile homes took up shelter in our lobby. Anyway, glad its over, and happy to hear you made it out all right Cajunscot!

I am sorry to hear about the unseasonal(?) twisters that have wrought havoc to your country and my thoughts are with those that may have been stricken in any way.My geography is a little hazy, but could you tell me how the state of Illinois fared in all this mayhem?Fingers crossed for you all.
